GO GREEN

With all due respect to the honorable judges, to the teacher from all Senior High Schools in Bekasi, and all the audience here, ladies and gentlemen… Good Morning!!

In this chance, I would like to tell you my speech that has the theme “Go Green!”

Saving Our Planet is a program that was persuading the earthlings so that they would become more concern and care to their entire environment. It was because the civilization that has been created by the modern people in this millennium era had affected so many destructive impacts which are really needed to be concerned. These impacts are causing a new problem, The “Global Warming”. In prediction, that in the last 100 years the temperatures of our planet has increased by 1’ every year. Meanwhile, the ocean surface has increased for about 1 meter from its former level. The problem is, modern people not only wanted to increase their prosperity, but also increase their rate of comfortable & luxurious life.

The situation was very different if we looked back to the last century where the pollution, the industrial garbage, and the toxin gases were friendlier. Friendlier, because on the 19th Century the technologies improvement and the consumerism character was not yet significant. Or should we say in this millennium era, the Earth exploitation and exploration were causing the crucial problem for the earthlings.

How crucial the earth environmental problems we face are for example: The protected animals & plants from certain species nearly extinct, the plantation sector is causing another problem for environment & ecosystem, forest logging without reboization, and the impact of mines exploitation that cannot be recycled and maintenance of mine sector, etc. For us, the youth generation is asking to the politicians and the government especially in Indonesia, “Why do those problems I mentioned left uncared without any preventive actions?” In fact, our ex-Minister of Environment of “Orde Baru” era Prof. Dr. Emil Salim has warned and gave us an opinion about will happen on the next 20 years. He said that the situation will be dangerous if there are no actions to prevent this. We need the proactive steps to maintain the nature and to rehabilitee what we have disrupted from every department that is connected with the environmental cases and our community. The example about the impact of human’s greed to the nature is The Lapindo Brantas case. That’s how the nature shows us their power. There’s not even one human could stand against the power of nature. Until now, there are no ways to stop the mud throwing and even the poisonous gases that is unwanted by the people.

We as the khalifah of the Earth can only begging, begging, and begging to the nature and destroy the nature. But when we must give something to the nature or maintain the nature, we feel that we don’t want to! Is the nature retaliating our doings? When we think deeply over this I guess the answer is “yes”, the nature is angry to us. The nature’s balance was really disturbed by the mortal’s hands and this behavior has spread widely over the world because of our hedonism.

The question is “How”? How do we realize collectively for the world’s life so that so that the Earth could become a better place to live…?

We as the youth generations, the lines of the civilization must be as one to create the vision & mission to help the government and the people for watching over the reboization program and for the environment reparation that is caused by the industrialist and the people generally wherever they are. We as the youth generation without exception must be totally devote our bodies & wills for the sake of healthy world, comfortable world, and for the sake of better place to live…

I suggest to the government and the people of Indonesia to plant the cambium plants or the pot plants on every one of the house garden. Everyone, every people must be responsible for every single of plants. Imagine! If every people have 1 plant in one house, there are 200 millions of plants in Indonesia. This is a very good step to begin our mission to prevent the Global Warming. Start this on any time now! For my recommendation, the sansivieras (one of the most beautiful pot plant) is really good to kept because of its great use of anti-pollutant & anti-free radical. Besides, its beauty will decorate our house so that we won’t feel bad to buy it.
Well, I guess that’s all I can tell. In the end, to show our devotion as the youngish, the lines to the future, we must be balanced it with faith and taqwa because those are our capitol to realize our wishes so that we can live in perfect harmony just as JESUS CHRIST has confirmed to us.

EVERYBODY NEEDS FANTASY

Ladies and gentlemen, do you remember the first time you saw magic? Well, when I was a little kid, my kindergarten teacher showed me a trick. That was when I first watched magic. She did this:(performing) "Hey kids, look at this handkerchief. I push this blue handkerchief into my hand, and watch. It's gone! But if you say a magic word, 'abracadabra', you can make it reappear!" I couldn't believe my eyes. And this experience inspired me to start learning magic. Today, however, instead of taking you to the mysterious world of magic, I'd like to discuss how the fantasy of magic can create a more pleasant life.

Now, what is your response when you see a trick like this? Through my experience as a magician, I've found that there are mainly two different types of reactions when people see magic. Let me explain.

The first group of people try to enjoy the illusion. They accept the fantasy of magic, and try to believe what is going on in front of their eyes.

The second group of people don't distinguish the fantasy of magic from the world of reality. They either persist in finding out the secrets of the trick, or have no interest in magic at all. Instead they feel they are cheated by the magician, and therefore they don't enjoy the experience.

Now, which type are you, ladies and gentlemen? Of course for the magician, the first group of people makes the most desirable audience. But in today's busy society, I think the people of group 2 are at a disadvantage because I have a feeling that this attitude has something to do with one of our current problems, that is, 'stress'.

As you know, many of us are under increasing amounts of stress these days. Actually we are living in a very busy society and there are even children who suffer from stomach ulcers, which are considered to be a disease caused by stress. Many of us seek out the ways to alleviate the stress. But I think whether we suffer from stress or not depends largely on our attitude.

For example, the first group of people enjoy everything. They are cheerful, and naturally relaxed. On the other hand the second group of people never leave the world of reality and often try to find fault with everything. For instance, when recommended to try something new, they worry, "Is this going to be fun?" or "Isn't that a waste of time?" And after that, they complain, "I shouldn't have done that!", and feel stress again. Or some people are at a loss as to how to make themselves relaxed, and their free time is spent just lying in front of TV all day, mostly wasting time.

I think people of group 2 lack the spirit of having fun, and that's why they can't relax and be happy. Although they'd like to be relaxed and happy, they make their own situations worse by being critical of everything even when relaxing. They also feel uneasy on the job, always thinking they are too busy, "I need some time to unwind." In spite of this when it comes to their free time, they feel uneasy again, thinking, "Oh, it's not the time to amuse myself. I'd better devote myself to my job."

Of course, it might depend on one's character or the life situation whether you can become the perfect group 1 people. But after all everybody needs fantasy somewhere deep inside, and the essence of relaxation is the spirit of having fun. Movies are a good example. There are so many kinds of movies, and the stories in most movies would hardly ever come true in our daily life. However, do we enjoy them when we are critical of the storyline? Do we enjoy them when we have doubt in our minds? The answer is definitely "No". We enjoy them only by trying to believe the story, by trying to feel as if we are on the screen.

In Japan, working hard without taking a rest is often considered to be a great virtue. Of course, it is important to be diligent, but it's not everything. We also need some time to put everything aside, escape our routine, and just relax. If we can fully appreciate our leisure time, we are refreshed, and can concentrate on our jobs once again. So let's take the opportunity to escape with a spirit of having fun, to live a really happy life.

I myself came to realize how good it is to be a group 1 person through my magic. And as a saying goes, "Everybody loves magicians." I believe magic is one of the best ways to have fun and relax. So I'd like to finish my speech by showing you some of my favorite tricks. (I show the audience a handkerchief) Well, I'm not here today for my magic show, but I stand here just to remind you of one thing. (It immediately changes into a cane.) That is, (I make the flower appear.) "It's time to smell the flowers!" And if you totally enjoyed my speech and magic, —I'm happy to tell you— you are a group 1 person already. Congratulations!

Global Warming

First of all I would like to say thank you to the teacher and all my friend who has given mee nice opportunity speech on this day, about global warming.

We know global warming is serious problem which is world well in country developing and country developed. Global waming in reason by activity human which working way a ware or not a ware.

Global warming is a process to increase body temperature average atmosfer: sea and land. Stage body temperature global settlement will to cause alteration which other except to clib surface sea water, stage weather, and alteration total. Result global warming which other influenced crop agriculture, and destroyed kind animal. All energy source which can be grond originally with sun.

A part that energy inside form short wave radiation, including apperent shine when this energy to hit ground surface it changeable with shine to make hot with to warm up eart.
With temperature average large 15 C (59F), eart in fact already hot more 33 C (59F) with greenhouse effect. So that ice will to shut all grond surface but on the contrary. Result total tha t gas already more in atmosfer global warming result to become.

To protect the health and economic well-being of current and future generations, we must reduce our emissions of heat-trapping gases by using the technology, know-how, and practical solutions already at our disposal.

The Earth’s climate changes in response to external forcing, including variations in its orbit around the Sun (orbital forcing), volcanic eruptions, and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. The detailed causes of the recent warming remain an active field of research, but the scientific consensus is that the increase in atmospheric greenhouse gases due to human activity caused most of the warming observed since the start of the industrial era. This attribution is clearest for the most recent 50 years, for which the most detailed data are available. Some other hypotheses departing from the consensus view have been suggested to explain most of the temperature increase. One such hypothesis proposes that warming may be the result of variations in solar activity.

None of the effects of forcing are instantaneous. The thermal inertia of the Earth’s oceans and slow responses of other indirect effects mean that the Earth’s current climate is not in equilibrium with the forcing imposed. Climate commitment studies indicate that even if greenhouse gases were stabilized at 2000 levels, a further warming of about 0.5 °C (0.9 °F) would still occur.

The prediction of climate change due to human activities began with a prediction made by the Swedish chemist, Svante Arrhenius, in 1896. Arrhenius took note of the industrial revolution then getting underway and realized that the amount of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere was increasing.

Moreover, he believed carbon dioxide concentrations would continue to increase as the world’s consumption of fossil fuels, particularly coal, increased ever more rapidly. His understanding of the role of carbon dioxide in heating Earth, even at that early date, led him to predict that if atmospheric carbon dioxide doubled, Earth would become several degrees warmer. However, little attention was paid to what must have been seen to be a rather far-out prediction that had no apparent consequence for people living at that time.

Arrhenius was referring to a potential modification of what we now call the greenhouse effect. Shortwave solar radiation can pass through the clear atmosphere relatively unimpeded, but longwave infrared radiation emitted by the warm surface of the Earth is absorbed partially and then re-emitted by a number of trace gases–particularly water vapor and carbon dioxide–in the cooler atmosphere above. Because, on average, the outgoing infrared radiation balances the incoming solar radiation, both the atmosphere and the surface will be warmer than they would be without the greenhouse gases. One should distinguish between the “natural” and a possible “enhanced” greenhouse effect. The natural greenhouse effect causes the mean temperature of the Earth’s surface to be about 33 degrees C warmer than it would be if natural greenhouse gases were not present.

This is fortunate for the natural greenhouse effect creates a climate in which life can thrive and man can live under relatively benign conditions. Otherwise, the Earth would be a very frigid and inhospitable place.

On the other hand, an enhanced greenhouse effect refers to the possible raising of the mean temperature of the Earth’s surface above that occurring due to the natural greenhouse effect because of an increase in the concentrations of greenhouse gases due to human activities. Such a global warming would probably bring other, sometimes deleterious, changes in climate; for example, changes in precipitation, storm patterns, and the level of the oceans. The word “enhanced” is usually omitted, but it should not be forgotten in discussions of the greenhouse effect.
The predicted effects of global warming on the environment and for human life are numerous and varied. It is generally difficult to attribute specific natural phenomena to long-term causes, but some effects of recent climate change may already be occurring. Raising sea levels, glacier retreat, Arctic shrinkage, and altered patterns of agriculture are cited as direct consequences, but predictions for secondary and regional effects include extreme weather events, an expansion of tropical diseases, changes in the timing of seasonal patterns in ecosystems, and drastic economic impact. Concerns have led to political activism advocating proposals to mitigate, eliminate, or adapt to it.

Except to crash which resolute there are to crash which already straight we not a ware. We can see in television that in big city very much empty region but the region used to project.

So region to plantis greentree very less tree which we to see to run very less even live style them more like to use carriage than to run away. This to make weather in environment them dirtied. So that event’s this to grow reason global warming.

I think that all . Thank You.

HIV / AIDS

I am honoured to be invited to address you today on a matter that so deeply affects South Africa, Africa and indeed the whole world. HIV/AIDS has been with us for about two decades, but it remains a problem whose solution continues to elude us all. We are making some progress in understanding this challenge, but we still have a long way to go in containing its spread. Although people from all walks of life are affected, AIDS is hitting hard at the most vulnerable sections of our society. It is the poor, the illiterate, the marginalised, the women and the children who bear most of the burden of the HIV epidemic.

The face of HIV/AIDS in South Africa has become more complex over the past 10 years. We are no longer only dealing with information and awareness, but with people that are faced with the reality of living with the disease. The vast majority of them are undiagnosed. Sebagian besar dari mereka adalah undiagnosed. They do not know their HIV status. Some of them are already falling ill but they do not know that their illnesses are related to HIV/AIDS. And even if they do know or suspect, they are reluctant to come out and talk about their condition.

I stand before you today to further consolidate our partnership in responding to this major challenge particularly the stigma that continue to be associated with it. We seek your partnership because we know that every South African citizen, every leader, bishop or priest has a special and unique role to play in combating HIV infection and caring for those living with HIV/AIDS.

The church has always played a role of caring for those who are weak and in need of support. But you have been able to initiate programmes that really make a difference in the lives of those in need of care particularly the children. The care that you have given has ot been limited only to the message of hope and spiritual well-being. I am convinced that the church can play a major role in fighting the stigma that is associated with HIV/AIDS and encourage openness and positive living amongst those who are infected and affected.

To ensure a common direction in the call for partnerships, we initiated the development of the Five Year Strategic Plan for South Africa, in 2000 in collaboration with all the key stakeholders, including the faith-based sector. It is a broad national strategic plan designed to guide the country's response to HIV/AIDS. The plan outline four priority areas, which are: (1) Prevention, (2) Treatment, Care and Support, (3) Research, Monitoring and Surveillance and (4) Human Rights. There can be no doubt that the faith based community has a central role to play in the implementation of this plan. There are numerous examples of how the faith sector is responding or can respond to this challenge. I will like to raise for discussion at least four key roles that Faith-based organisations and individual members of those organisations can play in responding to HIV/AIDS.

With regard to Education, we can:
Identify resources and models for prevention education, Strengthen HIV/AIDS prevention through family enrichment, Enhance HIV/AIDS prevention through youth programmes - building a solid foundation concerning sexuality, responsible adulthood and marriage, appreciating the youth and breaking the silence about sex.

On Advocacy, we can:
Campaign against discrimination. Work together with government in achieving appropriate levels of cost-effective health care, especially home based care. Seek means to protect interests of particularly women and children. On Worship, we can, Establish an annual National Day of Prayer and Healing for all persons affected by the epidemic. Establish an interfaith Day of Prayer and Healing Service, we can. Provide care which involves encouraging and supporting those who are infected and affected. Promote 'Family fostering' for those who have lost their parents or guardians. Take part in providing home care which may include: Home visits for prayer and scripture reading. Meeting physical needs for food, clothing, medical attention. Assistance in planning for the future of the family particularly children.

Support for orphaned children. Assisting with basic household activities such as shopping, cleaning the house or washing clothes. At the All Africa Church and AIDS Consultation which was held in Kampala in April 1994 a "Call to Action" was developed and signed. Similarly, "A commitment on HIV/AIDS by people of faith", was signed in Washington that same year. I will like to quote at least one section of this statement of commitment, and I quote: "We are called by God to affirm a life of hope and healing in the midst of HIV/AIDS. Our traditions call us to embody and proclaim hope, and to celebrate life and healing in the midst of suffering". We therefore need to send a positive message about HIV/AIDS. We need to tell people that just because you are HIV positive today, it does not mean you will get AIDS tomorrow and die. Co-factors such as poverty, high levels of mainly childhood malnutrition, vitamin A and iodine deficiency as well as lack of other micronutrients have a major impact on how one progress to full-blown AIDS. We have to advise those infected and affected by HIV that by eating nutritious food, managing their stress, treating any infection promptly including sexually transmitted infections and using condoms, they can live longer and lead a healthy and productive life for many years. We need to use this opportunity to declare our response to AIDS: We are called to love, We are called to be compassionate and care, We should commit ourselves to speaking publicly and promote HIV/AIDS prevention and ABC messages, We should promote and provide care for those who are infected and affected, We should fight the sins of discrimination and stigma, We should work together with other sectors of society to seek ways of eliminating poverty

I strongly believe that if we can leave this conference with a strong re-affirmation as the faith based leaders of this country, we will be able to provide hope for the faith community and for society as a whole: That in the spirit of love, compassion and care, through collective efforts to confront and to challenge discrimination and to empower our respective believers, we can overcome many of the challenges posed to us by HIV/AIDS.

Thank you.
